PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico University head women's soccer coach Nona Borden has named Nina Gallegos as an assistant coach for the program.
"Nina has great knowledge of the game and a great capacity to connect with the team," said Borden. "I am really excited we will be working together."
Nina comes to Portales after spending the past two seasons as the assistant varsity coach and head junior varsity coach at Copperas Cove High School in Copperas Cove, Texas. Gallegos led in-season training sessions and helped improve the JV record from three or less wins in previous seasons to a 12-4-4 record. She also aided the programs first appearance in regionals over a four-year period.
Gallegos most recently spent the 2025 summer as a summer coach for the IMG Academy where she developed and led structured soccer training sessions and served as a mentor by reinforcing core values and strong work ethic.
The Cypress, Texas native spent two seasons as the assistant coach at Paris Junior College where she was in charge of developing and evaluating student-athletes.
Before her stint at PJC, Gallegos served as the assistant head coach and interim head coach at William Penn from 2020-22. At William Penn, Gallegos managed travel logistics and maintained communication efforts with recruits between coaching staff transitions.
Over the summer of 2021, Gallegos spent her time as the U19 head girls soccer coach for Vision Soccer Academy in Des Moines, Iowa.
Her playing career includes stops at Centenary College of Louisiana, the Houston Crush (ENCL), and Cypress Springs High School.
