PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico cross country is back to action this week with a split squad at two different meets. Before ENMU gets going, please take a look at the Three Mile Preview:

1.) Season Opener Review: Both Eastern New Mexico men and women cross country programs competed at the Aggie Duels last week in Oklahoma. The men's team took sixth and the women's side finished ninth overall. The top runner for ENMU was Elizabeth Lujan-Towles who ran the 5k race in 21:15.5. The best finisher for the Hounds men's team was Eloy Serrano Borrego who completed the 8k course in 27:11.3. The women's team had five finishers in the meet and the men's program had seven run at the meet.

2.) Texas Tech Open: ENMU women's cross country is headed to the Texas Tech Open hosted by TTU. The meet will feature six Lone Star Conference programs. Those include Angelo State, Eastern New Mexico, Lubbock Christian, UT Permian Basin, Western New Mexico, and West Texas A&M. The Hounds roster features eight runners. Three student-athletes who did not participate last week are expected to run in the Lone Star state. Those individuals include Chama El Hadiri, Madison Manuelito, and Joella Mathilda.

3.) Lobo XC Invitational: Eastern men's cross country will compete in Albuquerque on September 13. The 5k race will be held at the UNM North Golf Course. It is the same course that has hosted NCAA regional meets and several local races throughout the year. Some notable teams at the meet includes New Mexico, New Mexico State, and UTEP. The men's race is expected to start at 7:55 a.m. The course runs alongside the fairways at the nine hole golf course. Several straight-aways provide runners a faster course and more opportunities to maintain a strong race pace. Five student-athletes are expected to compete for ENMU at the meet hosted by New Mexico.
