RICHARDSON, Texas – The Lone Star Conference has announced the players of the week for week three, with Eastern New Mexico volleyball's
Sophia Valdez earning offensive player of the week after a dominating performance at the LSC Challenge in Silver City, N.M. over the weekend.
Valdez registered 31 total kills over the weekend, which included matching a career-high of 23 kills in the ENMU 3-1 win over Western New Mexico on Saturday. Valdez's 23 kills puts the Greyhound tied for seventh for the most kills in a four-set match in program history.
The Roswell, N.M. native averaged 4.43 kills per set over the two matches and now sits fourth in the conference at 3.60 kills per set (126 total kills).
Valdez is the first Greyhound to win the award since Mikaela Garvin (LSC offensive player of the week) and Rae Sapiga (LSC setter of the week) earned the award on November 2, 2021.
ENMU will begin conference play on the road this weekend with matches against Texas A&M International on Friday, September 26 and Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday, September 27.
