LAWTON, Okla. – Eastern New Mexico men's cross country finished in sixth place at the Aggie Duels Friday morning.
"This was a good start to the 2025 season," said assistant coach Keyanah Browning. "We have been working hard in preseason to best prepare ourselves for competition."
Friday showcased talent from top programs like Oklahoma (DI), East Central (DII), and West Texas A&M (DII). The 8k course featured four loops around the Lawton Soccer Club. The grassy terrain course featured different short hills allowing runners to gain traction off those humps. One of the neatest parts of the course included lengthy straights allowing runners to maintain speed and tempo throughout the race.
Eastern's Lone Star Conference preseason runners to watch,
Eloy Serrano Borrego (25th, 27:11.22) and
Thomas Aerdts (40th, 30:03.54), led the way for the program. Returner,
Jackson Gable (45th, 30:44.89), finished closely behind.
Rounding out the top five finishers for ENMU included
Aiden Ramirez (47th, 31:27.32) and
Brian Norton (49th, 31:38.45). The men improved their placement at the Aggie Duels from 2024 when they took seventh in the field.
Also competing for Eastern was
Emmanuel Hernandez and
Alec Forney.
The men's team will be traveling next to the University of New Mexico for a meet hosted at the UNM North Golf Course on September 12.
