RICHARDSON, Texas – Celina Thomas is the Lone Star Conference field athlete of the week after an outstanding weekend at the Northern Arizona University Friday Night Axe 'Em Open meet.

"Let's go," exclaimed head coach Joshua Harden when told the news. "It's a testament to her hard work."

Thomas earned two personal bests in both events she competed in at the NAU meet. In the 60m, she completed the race in 7.78s.

The Florida native was fifth overall in the long jump with a leap of 5.70m (18-8.5) and was the top DII finisher. Her jump ranks second in school history and is 0.02m shy of a NCAA DII provisional mark. She already owns a provisional in the triple jump this season. In both the long and triple jump, Thomas holds the second best mark in the Lone Star Conference.
