Greyhound indoor track and field ready for two-day meet in Albuquerque

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico men's and women's track and field will race at the University of New Mexico Team Open in Albuquerque this weekend. Before the two-day meet, please take a look at the 4x4 Preview:

1x4 – Last Time Out: Eastern last competed on Jan. 9 with the program at Northern Arizona for the Friday Night Axe 'Em Open. Celina Thomas stood out for the women's program with personal records in the 60m (7.78s) and long jump (5.70m, 18-8.50). Some other notable performances for the women include Journie Alexander (60m – 7.88s), Meghan Rodriguez (400m – 1:00.38), Elizabeth Lujan-Towles (3000m – 12:33.84), Gabriela Elizalde (long jump – 5.34m, 17-6.25), and Liana Moncivais (shot put – 11.47m, 37-7.75). Devin Mata highlighted Eastern New Mexico's trip to Flagstaff by breaking the school record in weight throw with a 14.76m (48-5.25) toss. Other results for the men to note include Nicolo Salaris (60m – 6.98s), Thomas Aerdts (mile – 4:35.76), William Mclilly (high jump – 1.90m, 6-2.75), Angelo Bowser (long jump – 7.20m, 23-7.50), and Emiliano Morrison (shot put – 14.35m, 47-1).

2x4 – Full Weekend: Eastern will be represented with 89 entries over the two-day competition. Several Greyhounds boast a top 10 seed going into the weekend. Those include Strahinja Radakovic (60m hurdles), Hemon Joseph (long jump), Angelo Bowser (long jump, triple jump), Devon Falco (triple jump), William Mclilly (high jump), Andre Smikle (weight throw), Celina Thomas (triple jump), and Minerva Cerda Hernandez (pole vault). ENMU has a larger contingent due to last weekend's plan to compete at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational not taking place.

3x4 – New Event Opportunities: Eastern New Mexico is expected to run a distance medley relay. The four person race will feature Thomas Aerdts, Alec Forney, Brian Norton, and Eloy Serrano Borrego. The event consists of a 1200m, 400m, 800m, and 1600m leg. Four other schools (CSU-Pueblo, Adams State, Fort Lewis, and Western Texas College) are expected to enter the race.

4x4 – Greyhounds Galore: ENMU will have a large presence in the short sprints and weight throw this weekend in Albuquerque. The top seed entry for ENMU's women this weekend in the 60m is Riley Midgett holding a 7.80s top time. Hemon Joseph carries the top 60m seed time for the men at 6.93s. Andre Smikle's 15.35m throw in the weight throw is the eighth best mark going into the 26-person field. SeiOriana Glass' 16.08m toss in the weight throw is the 13th furthest toss in the field of 35 and top mark among the Hounds.
