PORTALES, N.M. – Five different Greyhound times/marks earned top five all-time recognition in the school history record books after Eastern New Mexico women's track and field's performance at the UNM Team Open Jan. 30-31.
"A lot to work off of," said head coach
Joshua Harden when asked what the team learned from competing this weekend. "We had some good things happen."
The field consisted of 27 colleges and universities with 11 DI schools and four institutions from the Lone Star Conference. The meet gave a chance for the Greyhounds to compete against some top competition and pursue bids for nationals.
Lesedi Anyika had a great finish in the 400m with a 57.77s time. Her race marks her third all-time in school history. She also competed in the 200m with a 25.99s result.
Anyika was also part of the 4x400 squad that now holds the school's third fastest time in the relay event. A 3:56.05 times was split between
Devyn Ericksen,
Lesedi Anyika,
Meghan Rodriguez, and Camila Gutierrez.
Gutierrez was one of two Hounds in the 60m hurdles to record a top five time. She is now second all-time among Greyhounds at 9.29s in the short sprint. Her teammate
Korah Ives bettered her previous mark and is now third all-time on the same list with a 9.35s mark.
Lastly,
Kennedy Ulmer cracked into the top five for the weight throw. The senior put up a 15.17m (49-9.25) mark on her second throw of the sequence.
Devyn Ericksen and
Celina Thomas remain the only Greyhounds with NCAA DII provisional marks going into the next competition. To stay up to date on all things ENMU track and field, please visit www.goeasternathletics.com
