FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Eastern New Mexico women's track and field competed at the Friday Night Axe 'Em Open on the campus of Northern Arizona University.
"Good meet for evaluation," noted head coach
Joshua Harden after the meet. "We saw some newcomers handle pressure and show readiness to work."
Five personal records highlighted the 60m sprint for ENMU.
Celina Thomas (7.78) and
Journie Alexander (7.88s) had the best finishes for Eastern in the short dash. Alexander also led the way for ENMU in the 200m with a 25.76s time.
Meghan Rodriguez finished the 400m with a 1:00.38 time.
Joella Mathilda crossed the line at 2:44.63 in the 800m.
Elizabeth Lujan-Towles was the top racer in the 300m with a 12:33.84 result.
Aeriana Langley cleared 1.51m (4-11.50) in the high jump.
Celina Thomas moved to second all-time in school record books with a 5.70m (18-8.50) jump.
The best throw in shot put came from newcomer
Liana Moncivais who boasted a 11.47m (37-7.75) mark.
SeiOriana Glass had the best result in the weight throw for ENMU with a 15.68m (51-5.50) toss.
Eastern New Mexico will next compete at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational hosted by the University of New Mexico in a couple of weeks.
