NORMAN, Okla. – Eastern New Mexico men's track and field finished out the regular season with strong performances in field events at the Crimson & Cream Qualifier hosted by the University of Oklahoma.
"This is the type of meet we needed," said head coach
Joshua Harden after the meet. "Next week at conference we need to go out there and replicate it."
Strahinja Radakovic had a season best 8.01s time in the 60m hurdles. He won the event with an 8.14s time in the finals. He is the top rated runner in the Lone Star Conference entering the championships hosted in Albuquerque this coming week.
His teammate
Byron Pruitt had an 8.45s time in the prelims and followed it with an 8.46s result in the finals. He is rated in the top 10 among participants in the event in the LSC.
Hemon Joseph continues to be the best ranked long jumper in the conference. The Greyhound is in his final year with the program and posted a 7.22m jump at OU.
Cooper Burgess is now in the top 12 in the LSC after a personal record jump of 6.76m.
Newcomer
Andre Smikle bettered his own school record in the weight throw with a 15.41m mark. He now ranks fourth in the LSC in the event. He also threw 13.78m in shot put in Norman. He sits 12th among all throwers in the conference in shot put. Smikle was joined by
Braden Pry who boasted a 14.57m throw in the weight throw and improved his mark which ranks fourth all-time in school history.
William Mclilly cleared 1.91m at today's meet in the high jump. His 1.95m mark from earlier this season still sits second in conference rankings.
Eastern New Mexico will now prepare for the conference meet set for next weekend in Albuquerque. The two-day meet will feature the top student-athletes in the LSC all meeting in the Land of Enchantment.
