Two podium finishes highlight ENMU women's track trip to LSC championships

ENMU women's track and field takes seventh at the Lone Star Conference indoor championships

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico women's track and field took seventh place out of 10 programs at the 2026 Lone Star Conference indoor track and field championships hosted at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

"I am proud of them," said head coach Joshua Harden after the meet.

Eastern scored 43 points in the meet. The champion was West Texas A&M who scored 208.50 points. UT Tyler was the runner-up with 82 points. Angelo State finished in third with 71 points.

Two Greyhounds donned the podium at the meet. Minerva Cerda Hernandez finished in third in the pole vault with a 3.37m (11-0.75) clearance. She is the school record holder in the event after clearing 3.60m last week in Oklahoma. Celina Thomas also reached the podium with an 11.81m (38-9) jump in the triple jump to earn third place. Thomas also holds the school record in the event from a previous mark at the season opening meet in Topeka.

Devyn Ericksen earned three points for ENMU after a sequence of 8.76s and 8.92s to take sixth in the 60m hurdles.

Despite not scoring points, the short sprints group paraded the results with personal record. Riley Midgett (7.76s) and Ambrosia Francis (7.79s) both had personal bests in the 60m. Riley Midgett (24.99s), Journie Alexander (25.25s), and Meredith Brown (25.28s) all had PR's in the 200m.

Lesedi Anyika was the best finisher in the 400m for ENMU. She ran a personal best 57.25s time and ranks top three all-time in school record books.

Chama El-Hadiri closed out her freshman indoor campaign with a 5:21.26 mile. Also competing for Eastern was the 4x400 squad taking ninth with a 3:52.52 time. Lesedi Anyika, Minerva Cerda Hernandez, Meghan Rodriguez, and Treasure Burrows all competed for Eastern in the relay.

Four different Hounds scored points in the long jump. They include Ashley Richburg 5.57m (18-3.25 – 4th), Journie Alexander 5.46m (17-11 – 5th), Gabriela Elizalde 5.46m (17-11 – 6th), and Celina Thomas 5.45m (17-10.75 – 7th). Richburg also took fifth in the triple jump going 11.25m (36-11). Ajah Walker scored her first points at a conference meet with a 11.09m (36-4.75) triple jump earning a seventh-place nod.

The women were well-represented in the weight throw. Both Kennedy Ulmer (5th - 15.99m – 52-5.5) and Olivia Lucero (6th – 15.73m – 51-7.25) scored for ENMU in the event.

Korah Ives broke the school record in the pentathlon to finish eighth overall with 3102 points. She posted personal records in the 800m, shot, high jump, and 60m hurdles.

The women's program closes out the 2025-26 indoor season and will now prepare for the outdoor slate.
