RICHARDSON, Texas – The Lone Star Conference named four Greyhounds as preseason athletes to watch for the outdoor track and field season.
Junior mid-distance runner
Stefan Camejo and freshman thrower Manny Chavez earned honors for the men's team. Sophomore thrower
Vivica Addison and graduate student sprinter
Journie Alexander earned the accolades for the women.
Camejo is in his first year with the Greyhounds and recently completed the indoor season for ENMU. He holds a personal record of 46.99s in the 400m and 1:54.16 in the 800m. Camejo took tenth at the LSC indoor track and field championships in the 400m just a few weeks ago.
Chavez is preparing to compete in his first season for ENMU. The Portales High School graduate is coming off a senior season that saw him win a New Mexico 4A state title.
Addison is a transfer from Cloud County Community College. She has a personal record of 46.02m (151-0) in the javelin and 41.48m (136-1) in the hammer throw. She recently took 12th in the weight throw at the Lone Star Conference championships.
Alexander is in her second season with the Greyhounds. She primarily competes in sprints and jumps for the program. Her personal best mark in the long jump is 5.63m (18-5.75). She also holds personal best marks of 12.10s in the 100m and 25.14s in the 200m.
All four student athletes will compete in the first outdoor meet of the season hosted by UTEP. Competition will be held March 20-21.
