EL PASO, Texas – Eastern New Mexico men's track and field began the 2026 outdoor season at a meet hosted by University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).
A handful of Greyhounds represented the program in short sprints this weekend.
Nicolo Salaris highlighted the groups performance by running 10.68s in the 100m and 21.56s in the 200m. JuanDiego Duran was the top 400m finisher for ENMU with a 49.60s finish.
The 800m will be a top event to keep an eye on for Eastern this season. The Lone Star Conference indoor 800m champion,
Eloy Serrano Borrego, began the outdoor campaign with a 1:51.31 time.
Thomas Aerdts joined his teammate with a nice start as he completed the two laps in 1:53.10.
Serrano Borrego was Eastern's top finisher in the 1500m at 4:05.89.
Jackson Gable led the way in the 5000m crossing the line in 16:43.20. The only hurdler to compete for ENMU was
Byron Pruitt who earned a 15.09s nod in the 110m hurdles.
The field events showcased several ENMU student-athletes.
Devon Falco (6.85m (22-5.75) and
Trevon Dennard (6.83m (22-5)) both had notable starts in the long jump. Dennard (14.54m (47-8.5)) and Falco (14.23m (46-8.25)) also finished 1-2 in the triple jump.
Noe Ybaben Burciaga was the best Greyhound in the shot put with a 14.10m (46-3.25) throw.
Andre Smikle had the best mark in the discus for ENMU at 49.58m (162-8).
Devin Mata was the top finisher among nine Greyhounds in the hammer throw with a 50.08m (164-4) throw on his second attempt of the meet.
Manny Chavez was the only Greyhound with an NCAA DII provisional mark in the meet. He threw 61.93m (203-2) in the javelin. He is in his freshman season and is expected to be a contender to make the outdoor track and field championships this summer. Eastern will now prepare for next week's meet hosted by Texas Tech.
