PORTALES, N.M. – Nine Greyhound men's track and field personal bests highlighted Eastern New Mexico's trip to Canyon this weekend.
"It was a good week for our sprint group," said head coach
Joshua Harden after the meet. "This is a springboard going into our home meet this weekend."
Jamo Williams led the ENMU sprint crew with two personal bests. He opened Thursday with a 21.53s in the 200m and followed that on Friday with a 10.64s time in the 100m dash. He ranks 17th in the conference in the 100m and 21st in the 200m. Also earning PB's in the 100m were
Abisai Torres (10.65s) and
John Magee (10.78s). All three Hounds in the 200m had personal top marks. Joining Williams was
Eric Collins (21.79s) and JuanDiego Duran (22.34s).
Manny Chavez took fourth in the javelin with a throw of 59.90m. He ranks second among all javelin throwers in the LSC.
Andre Smikle finished eighth in hammer throw with a 50.00m PR. Smikle is fifth in the conference with his most recent top throw.
Byron Pruitt cracked into the top eight conference rankings in the 400m hurdles after a 54.65s time.
