Hammer and long jump performances highlight Greyhound Open for ENMU women's track and field

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico women's track and field earned 18 personal best marks at the 2026 Greyhound Open Saturday.

"This was an overall good meet," said head coach Joshua Harden. "It's always great to compete at home."

Seven marks in the top five school record books were improved or set this weekend.

The 4x100 squad of Gabriela Elizalde, Amarie Brown, Journie Alexander, and Ambrosia Francis set the new fifth best time in school history with a 46.85s time. Beating out the previous mark by one hundredth of a second.

The long jump was a highlight for the team as three Hounds earned personal bests in the event. Celina Thomas' jump of 5.74m moves her to second all-time in school record books. Jerriana McWilliams also made the top five list with her 5.62m jump. Elizalde had a PR with a 5.59m leap. McWilliams continued her great performance at the Greyhound Open in the triple jump. She went 11.73m for a new PR and to take third in school history in the event.

Hammer was another strong event for the Greyhounds. Kennedy Ulmer improved her school record with a 50.21m throw. Jha'Niah Johnson remains in second in the event with a PR of 50.01m. First year Hound SeiOriana Glass tied her PR and now sits fourth in school history with a 48.11m throw. Olivia Lucero (44.32m) and Paige Fowler (38.52m) had personal best throws, as well.

The top 100m sprinter for ENMU was Ambrosia Francis with a 12.32s time. Minerva Cerda Hernandez led the way in the 200m with a PR of 25.15s. Cerda Hernandez also had ENMU's best time in the 400m at 57.65s. Four Greyhounds had personal bests in the 400m. They included Treasure Burrows (58.58s), Meghan Rodriguez (58.64s), Cheyenne McGhee (59.44s), and Meredith Brown (1:00.93s).

The women's team recognized Meghan Rodriguez, Riley Midgett, Gabriela Elizalde, Jha'Niah Johnson, Kennedy Ulmer, Journie Alexander, Ambrosia Francis, and Olivia Lucero as part of the 2026 graduating class.

"Incredibly honored to coach this group," said Harden when asked about the senior ceremonies. "We wish all of them the best as they go on to bigger and better things."

Eastern New Mexico track and field will compete next at a meet in San Angelo, Texas. More information will be provided at a later time.
