SAN ANGELO, Texas – A midweek meet for Eastern New Mexico men's track and field went extremely well.
"We have been looking for this type of meet," said head coach
Joshua Harden when highlighting a few of the top marks for ENMU men's track and field. "We still have so much to put out, but this is another step in the right direction."
The Angelo State Invite provided a great opportunity for the Greyhounds to solidify their spots in the upcoming Lone Star Conference outdoor track and field championships to be held at West Texas A&M. Seven ENMU student-athletes bettered their marks for the season to put themselves in improved positions for the conference championships.
One of the highlights of the two-day trip came from
Braden Pry. The throws specialist became just the fourth Greyhound ever to throw over 50 meters in the hammer throw. His mark of 50.72m ranks second all-time in school history. He joins two other teammates with top four throws in school history. Pry ranks fourth in the LSC in the event.
Another ENMU hurdles specialist joined the top five record books.
Byron Pruitt ran an impressive 54.51s in the 400m hurdles and now sits in ninth overall in the LSC and holds the fourth fastest mark in school records.
Devon Falco moved into eighth among conference competitors in the long jump with a 7.15m leap. He now ranks in the top eight in two different events.
Stefan Camejo improved his 400m season best time. He sits 11th in the LSC with a 47.62s mark. He is fourth in school records in the event. He is one-hundredth of a second shy of a top three mark at ENMU.
Eastern New Mexico will now wait for the LSC championships to be hosted in Canyon, Texas on May 7-9. The three-day meet will feature all conference foes. More information is available on www.goeasternathletics.com
