PORTALES, N.M. — The Eastern New Mexico University men's basketball team (7-10; LSC 0-4) is set for a tough pair of Lone Star Conference opponents, this week, with a Wednesday trip to Texas A&M-Commerce and a Saturday home game against Tarleton State. Both opponents are receiving votes in the latest media poll, sponsored by D2SIDA and are ranked sixth and seventh, respectively, in the South Central Region.

Last season, the Lions tied ENMU for fourth place and finished with a record of 14-13. After a win over the Hounds at the LSC tournament, A&M-Commerce lost to Tarleton State.

Last season, the Texans went tied for the league title and finished 28-3. Tarleton State defeated Midwestern State for the LSC Tournament title, but dropped a 74-68 decision to the Mustangs in the second round of the NCAA regional.

Midwestern State and Angelo State are the only undefeated teams in LSC play. That duo along with Texas A&M-Commerce and Tarleton State have combined to post a 38-1 home record.
Inside the Series Texas A&M-Commerce took two of three meetings against the Greyhounds last season,
which included a 74-73 heartbreaker in the opening round of the Lone Star Conferenc
e Championships. At Greyhound Arena, the Lions held a four-point lead with 5:45 left, but the Hounds came back to claim an 83-78 win behind 19 points from
Rodney Blackmon and
Cornelius Cammock.
Tarleton State has won the last four meetings and 14 of the last 16 against Eastern.
On January 13, 2013, the Hounds used 20 points from Blackmon to
rally from a 15-point deficit and post a 59-56 win over Tarleton State. The Texans held a 43032 lead with 10:10 left, but a jumper from
Lawrence Domingo (Union City, Calif., Community Charter Early College High School/Stoneridge Prep)ignited a 13-5 Greyhound run to tie the game. Tarleton State would lead twice more, before Blackmon hit a tie-breaking trey with two seconds left. The Greyhounds has 12 three-point field goals in the game and allowed just six.
Looking Ahead After hosting Tarleton State and
West Texas A&M, the Greyhounds will hit the road to play
Texas A&M-Kingsville. Eastern will return home to take on
Angelo State and
Cameron.
