PORTALES, N.M. – Following one of the most successful seasons in program history, Eastern New Mexico men's basketball has been selected to finish second in the 2026-27 Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll, as announced by the league Monday afternoon. The Greyhounds also received six first place votes.

The Greyhounds enter the upcoming season with high expectations after a historic 2025-26 campaign that saw Eastern finish with a 26-6 overall record, tying the program record for wins in a single season. ENMU posted a 17-3 mark in conference play, finishing tied for second in the LSC regular-season standings and earning its second consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament appearance.

Eastern's second-place preseason selection marks a significant jump from last season, when the Greyhounds were projected to finish tied for sixth in the 17-team conference. Under head coach Daven Võ, ENMU exceeded those expectations, advancing to the Lone Star Conference Tournament championship game and earning the No. 2 seed in the NCAA South Central Regional.

Adding to the preseason recognition for Eastern New Mexico, junior guard Mo Austin was named to the Lone Star Conference Preseason Players to Watch list. Austin returns to the Greyhounds following an impressive sophomore campaign in which he started all 32 games, totaling 465 points, 143 assists and 88 steals. His selection highlights his impact on the program and his anticipated role heading into the 2026-27 season.

Eastern New Mexico opens its 2026-27 campaign on Friday, Nov. 13, against New Mexico Highlands in Las Vegas, N.M. The Greyhounds will make their home debut on Tuesday, Nov. 17, when they welcome Justice College to Portales.
