ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Eastern New Mexico University indoor track & field teams registered a strong start to the 2015 season at the University of New Mexico Lobo Invitational.
Beth Blind (Sr., Kennedale, Texas/Kennedale HS) paced the Zias with a 16
th-place finish in the one-mile run, while
Baron Barber (R-Sr., West palm Beach, Fla./Palm Beach Lakes HS) was 11
th in the one-mile run for the Hounds.
Blind completed her run with a time of 5:25.82, nearly four seconds ahead of Megan McNally from New Mexico State and less than a second behind Incarnate Word's Clementine Kauffmann.
Ashlee Pierson (Jr., Clovis, N.M./Clovis HS) crossed the finish line in the 200m dash with a time of 26.99, just 0.02 ahead of New Mexico State's La'Shya Cole. She also was part of the Zias' 11
th-place 4x400m relay team and ran the first leg of the event.
Jenae Wolfram (Jr., Bosque Farms, N.M./Valencia HS) placed in both the weight throw and shot put. In the weight throw, her toss cleared a distance of 48'-11.8", while her throw of the shot put went 38'-1.5".
Kris-Ann Walters (Sr., Kingston, Jamaica/Adams State) cleared a distance of 16'-9.9" in the long jump, to finish in 25
th place.
Barber crossed the finish line with a time of 5:10.28.
Nicklas Waterhouse (Sr., Farmington, N.M./Piedra Vista HS) took 37
th in the 200m dash with a time of 22.46, .02 ahead of a pair of runners from Portland State. He also ran the first leg of the 4x400m relay, which saw the Hounds place tenth.
The Eastern New Mexico University track & field teams will return to action, next Friday, for the Texas Tech Red Raider Open.
