PORTALES, N.M. — The Eastern New Mexico University men's soccer team is in the final stretch of their season, taking to the road for their last three matches of the season.
The Greyhounds (4-7-2) are taking on Oklahoma Christian University today at 6:00 p.m., followed by a game against Southern Nazarene University on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 12:00 p.m.
OCU (8-7-1) is coming off a three game losing streak that ended at home against Rogers State in a 0-0 tie Oct. 24. ENMU and the Eagles share only two common opponents in St. Mary's University (TX) and St. Edward's University, with both teams beating the Greyhounds and OCU.
SNU is 3-12 on the season and has won only one of their last seven games. Their last win came against the Eagles on Oct. 22, winning 2-1.
The Crimson Storm and the Greyhounds have shared quite a few common opponents this season, with both teams going up against No. 2 Midwestern State, West Texas A&M, Newman and Dallas Baptist. The Buffs recorded a clean sheet against SNU 7-0 when the two teams met Sept. 19.
The final game of the year for the Greyhounds will pit them against No. 2 Midwestern State University (12-0-1). The first time the two teams met, ENMU put on a stellar performance against the then No. 1 team in the nation, holding the Mustangs scoreless through 90 minutes until allowing one goal in overtime.
ENMU is led on offense by Roberto Zatarain with six goals, followed by Ryan McManus with three. Carlos Viveros, Ignacio Dicun and Cesar Quintero all have two goals on the season. The Greyhound's keeper, James Gutierrez, has 66 saves on the season with a .710 save percentage.
