PORTALES, N.M. — Last week, the Eastern New Mexico University women's softball team (10-18; LSC 3-9) took on an offensive powerhouse, in Texas A&M-Commerce. With
Kyra Sirag's bat leading the way, the Hounds closed the series with an 8-7 victory over the Lions. This week, the Hounds; will visit Cameron University (20-9; LSC 5-3) and Lubbock Christian (26-7).
Eastern currently leads the LSC with 10 triples, and fourth in homeruns and slugging. Defensively, the Hounds are third with a .971 fielding percentage, behind only top-ranked West Texas A&M and 21
st-ranked Angelo State.
Audrey Velasquez ranks sixth in the league in total hits, with 38. Sirag is tenth in hits (35), and fifth in triples (3).
Erikka Burke is tied for second with seven double plays turned (9), while
Susannah Chandler is fourth in assists (58).
Over the first 28 games of the season, Sirag has led Eastern with a .393 batting average. She also has a .562 slugging percentage, 20 runs scored, two stolen bases, and a perfect fielding percentage.
Audrey Velasquez is right behind with a .380 batting average and team-best 23 runs scored.
Morgan Green has driven in a team-high 23 runs, and is tied for second on the team with 22 scored.

The team also has held a lead in five of the eight games. Over that stretch, ENMU has posted an impressive .973 fielding percentage and turned three double plays.
Erikka Burke has also posted a solid 4.42 earned run average in the circle.
After a series win at home over Texas A&M-Commerce, Cameron split its next six contests. With an extra-inning win, the Aggies split a doubleheader at Central Oklahoma, before splitting a four-game series at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Lubbock Christian will take a 10-game win streak to Texas A&M-Kingsville, this weekend.

Susannah Chandler batted four-for-four, with a double and four runs batted in.
Aja Secheslingloff tossed a complete-game eight-hitter to notch her 11
th win of the season and allowed just three solo homeruns. The victory snapped the Aggies' 17-game win streak.
Cameron has only hosted two LSC series against ENMU (2013 and 2014) and holds a 6-1 mark at home against the Hounds.
Eastern opened the 2014 series with a 9-1 victory in five innings.
Vanessa Ramirez scattered four hits to earn her first win of the season.
The first meeting between the teams occurred on March 7, 1997 and was a 5-5 tie.

Up NextThe Eastern New Mexico University softball team will host a Lone Star Conference series against
Texas A&M-Kingsville, next weekend. The first doubleheader will be played on Friday at noon. A nine-game road trip against
New Mexico Highlands,
Oklahoma Christian,
West Texas A&M, and
Oklahoma Panhandle State, will follow.
