PORTALES, N.M. — Last week, the Eastern New Mexico University softball team snapped a 12-game skid and posted a 6-3 win at Oklahoma Christian. Most notable about the extra-inning victory was that the Eagles had been defeated only one previous time at home, this season. This weekend, Eastern will visit second-ranked West Texas A&M, before a non-conference doubleheader at Oklahoma Panhandle State, on Tuesday.

Eastern currently is tied for the Lone Star Conference lead (with WT) with 11 triples, and is fourth in scoring. Defensively, the Hounds are third with a .961 fielding percentage, behind West Texas A&M and Angelo State. Kyra Sirag is eighth in the conference in hits and ninth batting average. Audrey Velasquez ranks fourth in the league in total hits, with 57. Erikka Burke is tied for fifth with nine double plays turned

Over the first 24 games of the season, Sirag has led Eastern with a .419 batting average. She also has a .613 slugging percentage, 26 runs scored, three stolen bases, and a .988 fielding percentage. Velasquez and Susannah Chandler are right behind at .375 and .341, respectively. Velasquez leads ENMU with 32 runs scored and is tied (Natasha Kissell) for the team lead with four stolen bases,
