BRADENTON, FLA. — On Friday afternoon, the Eastern New Mexico outdoor track & field team continued competition at the NCAA Division II National Championships, hosted by University of Tampa.
Julian Coronado placed 12
th in the men's 200m sprint, while
Klaudia Szych took 19
th in the women's 800m run.
Julian Coronado placed fifth in the first heat of the 200m dash. With a time of 21.37, he edged Benedict's Lennox Williams and Southern Arkansas' Karonce Higgins. In the final standings, he was just edged by McKendree's Demontez McCray by .01 seconds for 11
th place.
In her second appearance in at the championship meet, Szych placed sixth in the first heat of the 800m run. Her time of 2:13.65 edged Lewis University's Zoe Mead and Winston Salem State's Fawzia Kheir.In the final standings, she trailed Findlay's Samantha Grippe for 18
th by just 0.14 seconds. Lincoln's Jhevere hall won the race with a time of 2:08.27.
Tomorrow's events will conclude the NCAA Division II National Championship meet and the season for the Eastern New Mexico University track & field team. Coronado will join his teammates in the men's 4x100m-relay finals, scheduled for 3:10 p.m. MT.
