Greyhounds Set To Host No. 5 West Texas A&M and University Of The Southwest

PORTALES, NM - The Eastern New Mexico men's basketball team is set to host No. 5 West Texas A&M University and the University of the Southwest this week. ENMU faces the Buffs of WT on Thursday, December 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Greyhound Arena. The Hounds then take on the Mustangs on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. at "The Rock" at Clovis High School. 

Fans are encouraged to wear white to both the men's and women's games against WT on Thursday for a "White Out" game. 


LAST TIME OUT

• The Eastern New Mexico men's basketball team enters the weekend with a 3-3 overall record. Last week the Hounds traveled to West Texas A&M for the Pak-A-Sak WT Thanksgiving Classic. Eastern fell to Southwestern Oklahoma State University, 99-82, on the first night of the tournament. The Greyhounds then picked up a 70-66 win over #24 Oklahoma Baptist University to close out the weekend.
• Against SWOSU, Adam Hess paced the Greyhound offense with 18 points. Yosnier Cobas added 14 points, while Kentrell Pullian was close behind with 13 points. Marvin Mapaga rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 points. Defensively, Cobas pulled down seven rebounds. James Jordan had a team-high three steals.
• In the game against OBU, Pullian paced the Greyhounds with 15 points, while Hess was close behind with 12 points. Defensively, Cobas pulled down a team-high five rebounds. Hess, Jordan, and Jose Serrano each added four rebounds. Pullian led the way in assists with five.


SCOUTING THE COMPETITION 

West Texas A&M
• The West Texas A&M University Buffaloes enter the week with an 8-1 overall record. The were ranked 5th in the nation in the most recent NABC Poll.
• WT last played on November 27 when they picked up a 79-56 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Two Buffs reached double figures led by Zach Toussaint with a game-high 23. Julius Brown also reached double-digit scoring with 16 points to go along with two assists, two steals and a rebound. Hayden Blankley and Jesse Iweze each brought down six rebounds for WT.
• So far this season, Larry Wise paces the team in points per game with 16.0. Toussaint and Brown are close behind with 14.9 and 14.2 points per game, respectively. Blankley leads the squad defensively, as he pulls down 5.6 rebounds per game. Kavon Books adds 5.3 rebounds per game while Wise contributes 5.2 per game.

University of the Southwest 
• The University of the Southwest Mustangs enter the weekend with an overall record of 3-5. The Mustangs took on Colorado School of Mines and Western New Mexico most recently in exhibitions.
• On Friday, Nov. 26, University of the Southwest fell 97-66 to Colorado Christian University. Jeremiah Toney led the Mustangs with 15 points. Alvin Thompson added 13 points, while Tae Brown had 11 points. Defensively, B. Meadows pulled down 13 rebounds.
• Toney leads the team in points per game with 16.4. Meadows is close behind with 16.0 points per game and Thompson adds 15.0 points per game. Meadows averages 8.7 rebounds per game, while Toney pulls down 6.3 rebounds per contest.
