PORTALES, N.M. - The Eastern New Mexico softball team returns to Greyhound Softball Field to host Angelo State University and Lubbock Christian University this weekend. The Greyhounds face ASU on Friday starting at 3 p.m. and then welcome LCU for an 1 p.m. start on Sunday.Â

RETURNING TO GREYHOUND SOFTBALL FIELD
The Eastern New Mexico softball team is returning to Greyhound Softball Field for the first time in a full year after last season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The softball squad is the first team to return to competition on campus since sports shut down last spring.Â
LAST TIME OUT
The Greyhounds enter the weekend with an overall record of 0-4. Last weekend, ENMU fell to both Texas A&M-Commerce and UT Tyler to start the 2021 season.Â
Leading the way offensively was
Mikenzey Patterson. She finished the weekend with a .286 batting average and two hits.Â
Tava Boone paced the pitching staff with an 11.05 ERA and four strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work throughout the weekend.
Jordan Bowman contributed two strikeouts throughout the two series and finished with an ERA of 13.59.Â
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Angelo State
The No. 24 nationally-ranked Angelo State University Rambelles enter the weekend with an overall record of 9-6 and a 1-3 conference mark. Last weekend, ASU went 1-1 against Cameron and 0-2 vs Oklahoma Christian to kick off Lone Star Conference play.Â
Mykayla Stroud leads the way for the Rambelles in batting average (.385). Courtney Barnhill paces the team in hits (18), runs (14), doubles (6), triples (1), and RBI (13). Leading the squad in home runs is Madison Fernandez with three.Â
In the circle, Makayla Corbin has a team-low ERA of 1.50 to go with a 5-1 record and 25 strikeouts in 37.1 innings. Genesis Armendariz leads the team in strikeouts with 32 and has an ERA of 3.23 in 47.2 innings.Â
Lubbock Christian
Lubbock Christian enters the weekend with an 11-6 overall record and 1-3 conference record. The Lady Chaps dropped two games to Oklahoma Christian and were 1-1 against Cameron.Â
Leading the team offensively is Brooke Makemson with a .438 batting average, 18 RBI, and five home runs. Savannah Wysocki paces the team in hits (26), runs (19), and triples (2).Â
In the circle, Taylor Franco has been dominate with a 7-2 record, 0.58 ERA, and 34 strikeouts in 60.1 innings of work. Dakota Stotyn has also put in some quality innings with a 3.54 ERA and a 3-2 record in 31.2 innings.Â
