Track & Field Completes Texas Tech Masked Rider Open

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Eastern New Mexico track & field programs competed in the Texas Tech University Masked Rider Open this weekend. The Greyhounds saw several student-athletes compete well in the large field, which included Division I competitors.

The women's 10,000-meter run saw the Greyhounds go 2-3-4. Mercy Rotich finished with a time of 39:19.84, while Aminata Kenyawani was close behind with a 39:22.64. Kayla Sisneros crossed next in 41:07.81. Rotich and Kenyawani's times place them second (38:42.17 converted for altitude) and third (38:44.93 converted) in the program record books, respectively.

Neri Getraide took seventh place in the 800-meter as she crossed the line in 2:17.02.

In the 1500-meter run, Malethabo Seema finished in 4:46.01 which was good for seventh place. Her time also ranked 5th all time in program history (4:42.60 converted).

In the women's 4x400 relay the team of Getraide, Torisha LaForce, Lethabo Seema, and M. Seema finished eighth with a time of 4:05.93.

Jessica Campbell finished the 100-meter hurdles in 16.35 (21st). Her time was good enough for third place in program history. She now owns three of the top-five times.

In the 400-meter hurdles, LaForce finished in 11th place with a time of 1:08.52, which puts her fifth all-time in program history (1:08.63 converted).

In the pole vault, Paige Graham had a great day with a personal best vault of 10-8 (3.25m) for ninth place in the event. That also places her third in the record books.

Tamia Smith performed well in both the discus and shot put. She finished second in the discus with a distance of 130-3 (39.70m) which sits third in program history. In the shot put, she took 12th place with a throw of 39-10.5 (12.15m) which is fifth in the record books.

On the men's side, Dan Hurren finished 15th in the 800-meter with a time of 1:56.24.

Jon Fuentes picked up a 13th place finish in the 1,500-meter run as he crossed in 4:13.81.

The Greyhounds are back in action on April 22 when they compete at the John Kirby Tailwind Open at the University of New Mexico.
