Softball Travels To Oklahoma Christian and Cameron

PORTALES, N.M. - The Eastern New Mexico softball team returns to the field after two weeks with games at Oklahoma Christian and Cameron. The Greyhounds face the Eagles on Friday at 11 a.m. and then take on the Aggies on Sunday at 11 a.m. 

LAST TIME OUT

The Greyhounds enter the weekend with an overall record of 0-13 and Lone Star Conference record of 0-12. Eastern is coming off a two week break as they were schedule to be off last weekend and had to postpone games against St. Mary's and St. Edward's the weekend prior due to unforeseen circumstances.

The last time the Hounds played was March 19-21. They fell twice (8-0, 15-1) to Texas A&M-Kingsville on March 19. Then Eastern dropped three games to Texas A&M International on March 20-21.
 

NEW LEADER AT THE HELM

Eastern has new leadership this series as Dusté Grawrock was named the interim head coach after the resignation of former head coach Kira Zeiter.

Grawrock is no stranger to the game as she was the head coach at Southern Virginia from 2010-2014 and was a two-year softball student-athlete at Southern Virginia as well.


SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

Oklahoma Christian University
The No. 13 nationally-ranked Eagles enter the weekend with an overall record of 23-5 and LSC mark of 13-3. The last time out, Oklahoma Christian defeated Texas Woman's by scores of 14-1 and 11-2 on March 28.

The team is led offensively by Kylie Janzen with a batting average of .397 to go with 29 hits, five home runs, and 26 RBI. Katelyn Dunckel paces the team in hits (32), doubles (8), and triples (4).

In the circle, Kali Crandall leads the way in ERA (1.34), wins (15-1), saves (2), and strikeouts (103). Bailey Turner has also been effective with a 5-3 record, 2.71 ERA, and 54 strikeouts.

Cameron University
The Aggies enter the weekend with an overall record of 17-11 and 8-8 LSC record. Cameron will face West Texas A&M on Friday before meeting the Hounds on Sunday. The last time out, the Aggies split with Midwestern State on March 28. The lost the first game 4-3 and then won the second, 3-0.

Khmari Edwards paces the team in hits (37) and RBI (27) to go with a .411 batting average. Brenna Busby has a batting average of .405, 34 runs, 34 hits, seven doubles, five home runs, and 14 RBI.

In the circle, Breley Webb has a team-low ERA of 2.54 to go with a 6-4 record and 72 strikeouts. Bethany Hines has a 7-4 record, two saves, 3.10 ERA, and 68 strikeouts.
