RICHARDSON, Texas-Â The Lone Star Conference released its annual Volleyball Preseason Poll as voted upon by coaches and representatives across the league on Monday afternoon. The Greyhounds were picked to finish 18th, returning to competition after missing out on the 2020 season due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The 2021 Spring Champions, Angelo State, were selected to repeat the LSC title after receiving 771 points and 31 first place votes. Following the Rambelles, UT Tyler was selected to finish second, receiving 739 points and seven first-place votes. Texas A&M-Kingsville rounded out the top three with 686 points and three first-place votes.

In addition to the poll, three individuals were selected for preseason awards. ASU's Kailyn Gilbreath was named Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Texas A&M-Kingsville's Ayanna Jackson earned Preseason Defensive Player of the Year honors, and the Javelinas' Emily Witt was tabbed Preseason Setter of the Year.

Returning for the Greyhounds is
Jasmine Gannon, who led the squad in kills (247) and points (277.5). In the middle, setters
Rae Sapiga and
Qitana Sapiga return after leading the assists mark in 2019, with 438 and 313 assists respectively. At the net,
Gracelyn Stubbs brings 59.0 total blocks from the 2019 campaign back to the lineup.
 In 2019, the Hounds went 5-21 overall and 3-15 in LSC play. The Greyhounds will host nine home contests this season, including the home opener against New Mexico Highlands on Sept. 21, along with eight conference matchups.

The Greyhounds begin the season at the 2021 Patriot Tournament in Dallas, Texas from Sept. 3-4. In the tournament, the Hounds will face Arkansas Tech University, followed by host DBU, Westminster College (Utah), and Wayne State College.
