LUBBOCK, TEXAS – The Eastern New Mexico track and field program began its season at the Texas Tech Corky Classic at the Sports Performance Center on the campus of Texas Tech University on over the weekend. Eastern had strong showings against Lone Star Conference opponents and Division I competitors.
On Friday evening,
Malethabo Seema finished in 3
rd place in the 400 meter dash, section B, with a time of 1:00.65, with the top three runners separated by less than a second.

Lethabo Seema turned in a top-five finish in the 1000 meter dash, with a 4
th place finish posting a time of 3:15.30.
Kaylyn De la Rosa also competed in in the 1000 meter dash, posting a personal best time of 3:21.47.

In the weight throw,
Tamia Smith set a personal best throw of 13.83 m (45' 4.5"), placing 16
th. Smith's toss lands fifth on the ENMU all-time marks list, being the longest throw by an ENMU student-athlete sense 2018.

In the men's 600 yard run,
Japhet Toroitich placed 9
th with a time of 1:12.85, while
Devis Cheruiyot finished just behind with a time of 1:14.65.

On Saturday afternoon,
Marta Pascoa highlighted the afternoon with a 2
nd place finish in the mile, clocking a time of 5:26.04 for personal best in the mile.
Aminata Kenyawani also finished in the top ten, crossing the line at 5:32.60 to take sixth place.

In the men's mile run,
Kelvin Kipkemboi posted a time of 4:34.46 to finish in 6
th place.

The Greyhounds travel to Albuquerque, N.M. for their next meet at the Dr. MLK Collegiate Invitational at the University of New Mexico, on Saturday, Jan. 22.
