Track & Field Sets Multiple Program Records and Personal Bests at Dr. MLK Collegiate Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Several Greyhounds set personal best's and complied all-time marks in the ENMU Track & Field history books during the Dr. MLK Collegiate Invitational, hosted by University of New Mexico, held at the Albuquerque Convention Center, in Albuquerque, N.M. on Saturday afternoon.

Dan Hurren marked the day with a time of 1:21.85 in the 600-meter dash. In his first time competing at the distance, Hurren placed 4th overall with his time currently standing second in ENMU Track & Field all-time records, according to available data.

Mohamed Megeno set a PR in the sprints with Megeno clocking a 7.29 in the 60-meter dash and 23.23 in the 200-meter dash, taking 9th in the 200. Iziah Hall also took on the 200 and finished in 10th overall with a time of 23.49.

The men's 4x400 relay team made up of I. Hall, Hurren, Devis Cheruiyot, and Japhet Toroitich finished second overall with a time of 3:22.25, and now sits fifth on the all-time records for ENMU Track & Field, on available data.

Meanwhile in the throws, Tamia Smith and Tatiana Hall both set PR's in the weight throw, with Smith's toss of 14.15m (46' 5.25") being a new best and breaking into the top five for the ENMU records. T. Hall's throw of 11.51m (37' 9.25") was also a career best. In the shot put, Smith made more history with a throw of 11.95m (39' 2.5") breaking into the top five for all-time throws, while T. Hall marked a career long throw of 9.8m (32' 2").

Arianna Hayde had an impressive showing in the long jump, with a leap of 5.44m (17' 10.25") finishing in 17th overall, but was the second longest jump in program history.

Malethabo Seema also broke into the top five for their sprint in the 600-meter dash. A time of 1:38.43 placed in 9th during the meet, while now holding 4th place in the program record book. Kiara Cox also had an impressive showing in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.82 landing in 6th place at the meet overall.

Eastern return to Albuquerque, N.M. next weekend for the University of New Mexico Team Open at the University of New Mexico, on Saturday, Jan. 29. ­­
