PORTALES, N.M. – ENMU men's basketball is on a roll after winning a third-straight game Saturday afternoon in Clovis. The Greyhounds are back at Greyhound Arena for a pair of matches this week and look to keep the pace moving forward as they welcome Northern New Mexico and the University of the Southwest.
Before the action tips off Wednesday night, please take a look at the Starting Five:
1.) LOUD AS CAN BE: Greyhound Arena was the place to be last Thursday as the Hounds welcomed Navajo Tech for Youth Day. A raucous 2,190 fans aided ENMU to an 80-70 victory over the visitors.
Errol White led the team with 22 points and he added 12 rebounds for his second double-double in-a-row.
Eze Dike finished with 15 points and
Jason Holman contributed 11 points off the bench.
2.) COMMUNITY CENTERED: Eastern New Mexico brought collegiate basketball to Clovis Saturday afternoon as the Hounds beat Navajo Tech for the second time in three days, 70-58.
Greg Johnson (13),
Errol White (13), and
Jahcoree Ealy (12) all scored in double figures for ENMU.
Eze Dike dished out two assists and registered four steals in the win. The game was played at "The Rock" where current Greyhound
Darion Morgan played his prep ball. After the game Morgan was pleased with the energy of the crowd and said he was blessed to play in the gym once again.
3.) BIG BLOCKS: Jose Murillo had his third game with multiple blocks on Thursday when he swatted two shot attempts. He has eight on the year, which is second among players in the Lone Star Conference. The freshman forward is averaging 9.3 points and 6.0 rebounds in 24.8 minutes per game. He also leads the team shooting 58.6% from the floor.
4.) AGITATING ATTACK: ENMU ranks fourth among conference institutions in field goal percentage (47.4%) and points per game (79.0). Seven players are averaging 8.0 or more points per contest and the team is posting 15.5 assists early in the 2022-23 season.
Errol White accounts for 16.0 points and
Grehlon Easter is putting up 15.5 points per game. Eight players have scored at least ten points in a single game.
5.) ON THE SIDE OF HISTORY: The Hounds are 5-0 against both of its opponents, combined. In 2021, the program took wins against the Eagles and Mustangs.
Niko Bossinakis scored three points in the victory over Northern New Mexico and he added two points in the game against the University of the Southwest.
Sebastian Jimenez was one of four players in double figures as he scored ten points versus the Mustangs last season. Jimenez played ten minutes on Saturday and scored three points with an assist and defensive rebound.
