PORTALES, N.M. – Gracelyn Stubbs and
Rylee Mapes of Eastern New Mexico Volleyball received Academic All-District® Honor from the College Sports Communicators (CSC), on Tuesday afternoon. Stubbs and Mapes are both first time recipients of CSC Academic All-District Team honors.
Stubbs picks up the accolade holding a 3.64 in their academic career, pursuing a degree in Physical Education. Stubbs ended their Eastern career with a great season, posting 2.39 k/s, 90.0 total blocks, 0.8 b/s, a .336 hitting percentage, totaling 346.0 points. The Albuquerque, N.M. native played every set this season and was named to the 2022 LSC All-Conference Second team for their efforts during the season.
Mapes joins Stubbs on the All-District team after earning a 3.56 GPA, working towards a degree in Physical Education. Mapes recorded career highs in nearly every category this season, playing in a career high 21 matches this season and 71 sets. In that time, the Lovington, N.M. native tallied 90 kills, 116 digs, 21 total blocks, and 103.5 points.
In order to be considered for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution and nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form.
Both of the Academic All-District honors will now move on to the ballot for CSC Academic All-America consideration. First- and second‐team Academic All‐America® honorees will be announced in December.
