Men's Basketball Prepares For Non-Conference Contest Against #4 Lubbock Christian

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico men's basketball welcome #4 Lubbock Christian University for a non-conference contest on Thursday evening. First tip from Greyhound Arena is at 7:30 p.m. as the team will be celebrating Pink Night.

LAST TIME OUT
• Eastern enter Thursday nights contest with a 6-15 standing on the season, with a record of 2-10 in Lone Star Conference (LSC). The Hounds dropped its last two games this weekend, a narrow defeat to Cameron University, 66-65, on Feb. 10, then a loss against #24 West Texas A&M University, 86-66, on Feb. 12.
• In the loss to the CU, Yosnier Cobas paced the team with 21 points on 9-13 shooting from the field. Kentrell Pullian added 12 points and eight rebounds to the effort, along with a team high three steals. Marvin Mapaga followed with 12 points, while Garrick Sherrod dished out a career high seven assists in the game, and Kevin Nze Mba pulled down a personal best 10 rebounds (team high).
• Against West Texas A&M, Jared Perry had a career high 16 points on a perfect 8-8 shooting to lead the Hounds. Pullian and Adam Hess contributed nine points on the evening, with Nze Mba leading the rebounding effort with nine. Pullian provided a team best four assists, while Perry, Hess, and Pullian all recorded a block.

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION 
#4 Lubbock Christian 
• The Chapperals come into Thursday's game with a 22-2 record overall, along with a 10-2 mark in LSC action. LCU have held the #1 spot on the national rankings, but their first two losses of the season have dropped them to #4 according to the National Association of Basketball Coach's (NABC) Poll.
• Recently, Lubbock Christian suffered a shock defeat against Cameron University, 89-85, in double overtime. Parker Hicks recorded a double-double with 29 points and 11 rebounds, leading the team in both. Amar Muhammad poured in 23 points, while Llyod Daniels found 18 points in the game.
• Overall, Hicks leads the team in scoring with 20.0 points per game (ppg), with Daniels and Muhammad adding 16.5 ppg and 15.5 ppg respectively. Hicks also leads the rebounding for the Chaps with 8.6 rebound per game (rpg), and Rowan Mackenzie pulls down 4.9 boards per game.
