PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico softball has pushed its home opener back one week, along with a change in its away trip to Lubbock, Texas this weekend. The changes have been made due to the forecasted temperatures over the weekend.
The Hounds were scheduled to play its home opener against Lubbock Christian University on Friday, Feb. 25. Then, Eastern were to complete the home-and-home doubleheader on Saturday, at PlainsCaptial Park. However, the expected low temperatures have changed the expected home-and-home series.
Now, the Hounds will just play one doubleheader on Sunday, in Lubbock, Texas, with an expected first pitch of 12:00 pm (MST), with game two beginning at approximately 2:00 pm (MST). The Hounds games at Greyhound Softball Field have been canceled, with no plan of making up the contests. This means that the Greyhounds new home opener is scheduled for Friday, Mar. 4, against #25 Texas A&M-Commerce.
