PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Track & Field are ready for the 2022 Lone Star Conference Indoor Track & Field championship. This will be the first time the Hounds will compete in the championship since 2020, after missing out on the 2021 championships. The two-day championships will take place at Sports Performance Center on the campus of Texas Tech, in Lubbock, Texas.
So far this season, several ENMU student-athletes have set top marks that stand as some of the best in the LSC conference.
Japhet Toroitich has set a 10
th place mark this season in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.64 during the Texas Tech Shoot (2/11/22),
Iziah Hall will also be running in the 400.
Devis Cheruiyot lands in the top 10 for the 800-meter dash, with a seed time 1:55.77,
Dan Hurren will be competing in the 800.
In the women's 800-meter dash,
Malethabo Seema holds the second fastest time this season in the event, after running a 2:16:57 during the New Mexico Team Open. As for the women's mile,
Lethabo Seema and
Marta Pascoa will be competing after times of 5:12.72 and 5:16.54, respectively.
Four Greyhounds will be competing in the women's 3000-meter run:
Aminata Kenyawani, L. Seema,
Dorcas Kosgei, and Pascoa. In the men's 3000-meter run,
Kelvin Kipkemboi will be running following a seed time of 8:49.01. As for the 5000-meter run, Kenyawani and Dorcas will be competing in the women's race, while Kipkemboi will go for a podium finish in the men's race.
The Hounds will be racing in all of the relays this weekend: Men's 4x400, Men's Distance Medley, Women's 4x400, and Women's Distance Medley. The women's distance medley team sported the third best time this season, crossing the line in 13:00.23.
In the field events,
Paige Graham will be competing in the high jump, while
Arianna Hayde will compete in both the long jump and the triple jump. Hayde posted a top-10 LSC mark in both events, and set a program record in the triple jump earlier this season, 11.60m (38" 0.75).
Tamia Smith wraps up the Hounds competitors in the shot put and weight throw. Smith posted a top-10 mark in both events, setting a distance that finished 13
th in the weight throw.

- Fans planning on attending the championship can purchase tickets online. Note, this a cashless event. QR codes will be available on site to purchase tickets. Tickets for spectators will be sold individually for each day of the meet: $8 for adults and $5 for youth (ages 2-17). All tickets must be purchased online.
