RICHARDSON, Texas – The 2023 softball season is just ten days away and Eastern New Mexico is set for its opening weekend of play with a tournament hosted by Lubbock Christian Feb. 3-5.
Today, the Lone Star Conference announced the preseason poll voted by league coaches, sports information directors, and media representatives. The Greyhounds are slated 12th among 15 programs in the LSC just one year from tying for tenth with Texas A&M International and St. Edward's.
ENMU brings back its ace from 2022 in
Brook Leger. The senior finished second in the LSC with 169 strikeouts over 32 appearances.
The Hounds top bat will also be back as
Azalea Martinez hit .315 adding eleven doubles and three homeruns on the season.
The 2023 campaign gets started Feb. 3 against Newman with a 12 p.m. MT first pitch at Lubbock Christian High School. The Hounds will then face Nebraska-Kearney at 2 p.m. MT on the same day.
