Pitch Preview - MSOC: DBU and #2 Midwestern State

Eastern continue to play at home against DBU, then travel to face #2 Midwestern State

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Men's Soccer look to keep their momentum moving in the right direction with a pair of games this week. First, ENMU host DBU on Wednesday, Oct. 18 with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. Then, ENMU take a trip to Wichita Falls, Texas playing #2 Midwestern State on Saturday, Oct. 21, with the match set to start at 4 p.m. (MST).

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS

  • ENMU have been in good form of recent weeks, winning two of its last three games. The Greyhounds have a standing of 4-5-3 on the season, while holding a 2-1-1 conference record.
  • The Greyhounds have potted 18 goals this season, while finding 10.9 shots per game, and 5.33 shots on goal per game (3rd in the LSC). On defense, ENMU have allowed 22 goals while making 43 saves this season (3rd in the LSC).
  • Nick Huenig paces the Hounds with four goals this season, while Felix Drizinsky adds four assists to the offense. Drizinsky was recently named LSC Defensive Player of the Week, with their four assists being sixth in the LSC. Huenig also paces the Hounds in shots and shots on goal. Paul Waschkau has played the last three matches in net for ENMU, making 3.50 saves per game (2nd in the LSC).

SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS

  • Dallas Baptist will play the Greyhounds for the second time this season, with the Greyhounds winning in Dallas earlier in the non-conference meetup (1-0, 9/20). Currently, DBU have a 4-6-2 record, with four points in conference play (1-2-1).

Midwestern State has won 10 straight matches, while outscoring opponents 14-3 in conference play.
  • MSU's scoring offense is 6th in the nation (2.92 goals per game), while being 7th in the nation for shutout percentage (eight shutouts, 0.615). The team leads the conference in goals (38) and total points (105), while being 2nd in the LSC for assists (29). The Mustangs only allow 7.3 shots per game, making 25 saves and conceding eight goals in 13 games.
