Eastern New Mexico becomes tenth Hound to compete in national meet

INDIANAPOLIS – Junior sprinter Timothy Frederick will be representing Eastern New Mexico at the 2023 NCAA DII indoor track and field championships. He is the tenth Greyhound to qualify for the indoor meet in program history with the most recent coming in 2019.

"Our expectation was to get there, but the job is not done yet. Tim worked hard to get in this position," said head coach Joshua Harden after the announcement came. "He wants to represent Eastern in the best way."

He will be competing against 15 of the best runners in the 200m race. The competition will be held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia on March 10th and 11th.

Three other racers will be joining him to represent the Lone Star Conference. Those include Isaac Botsio (West Texas A&M), Joseph Manu (West Texas A&M), and Jeremiah Lauzon (West Texas A&M).

Frederick comes into nationals with the thirteenth fastest time among the field after altitude conversion moved his 21.20 seconds finish time at the LSC indoor track and field championships to 21.27 seconds.

The Trinidad and Tobago native took third at the conference meet in Lubbock, Texas last week and looks to showcase his talents in Virginia at the NCAA DII meet in two weeks.

An update will be provided when heat sheets become available on March 6.
