LUBBOCK, Texas – All three sprinters in the 100m dash hit personal top times Saturday afternoon at a meet hosted by Texas Tech.
Timothy Frederick ran a 10.49s 100m. The junior's time is an NCAA provisional mark – his third of the season in three different events.
His teammate
John Magee also had a notable time at 11.40s to put him in 35th place beating out a runner from DI Oklahoma. Magee also ran a top time in the 200m clocking in at 22.72s.
Aiden Kepfer (2:10.56) and
Ricky Diaz (2:19.39) paced the way in the 800m.
Ethan Woodrome took 22nd in the 1500m as he ran the event in 4:41.90.
Noe Ybaben finished 7th in the shot put after his second throw of the meet went 13.20m (43' 3.75"). Malachi Torres was just behind him at 10.22m (33' 6.5").
Jesse Woodruff battled through tough wind conditions to get a mark of 30.36m (99' 7").
Alex Williams took third in the javelin. His fourth toss of the day was his second best of the 2023 season. The freshman threw 63.55m (208' 6"). The result is within the NCAA provisional marking.
For the women,
Malia Sanchez has a new PR in the 100m after running 13.09s in the meet. She also competed in the 200m clocking at 27.74s.
Three other teammates rans the 200m with Sanchez.
Kiara Cox (25.29s),
Meghan Rodriguez (26.98s), and
Savannah Romero (27.66s) competed for the Hounds.
Romero registered a PR in the 400m with a 1:03.45s result. She was joined by
Mahault Lebrun (1:00.32) and Rodriguez (1:03.70) in the race.
Another blazing time came from the mid-distance crew as
Kaylyn De La Rosa managed to cut six seconds off her time from a week ago and finish at 2:22.94. She now ranks in the top-25 among runners in the LSC in the event.
Maritza Alvarez finished the 1500m 24 seconds faster than last week. She completed the race in 5:04.48. The time does not get her into the top-25 within conference as she is around six seconds short from that mark.
Lauren Griego also competed in the 1500m with a 5:36.15 finish.
The 4x100 managed to take fourth place with a time of 49.36s. Sanchez, Cox, Lebrun, and
Ashlynn Evans made up the team for ENMU.
Paige Graham was able to clear 3.11m (10' 2.5") in the pole vault, but could not complete the attempt at 3.31m.
Kennedy Ulmer had another PR this week with a throw of 12.74m (41' 9.75") in the shot put. She took sixth in the discus competition going for 39.52m (129' 8").
To wrap things up on the women's side,
Tatiana Hall threw 34.54m (113' 4") in the hammer.
"I thought the meet went very well," said head coach
Joshua Harden after the meet. "The focus shifts towards conference as we believe we have a few kids that have the possibility to move into a conference scoring position."
The Greyhounds are now days away from the 2023 LSC outdoor track and field championships hosted by Lubbock Christian. The Hounds hope to build on its season-long success and pull off a successful championship meet.
