Patterson Recognized to NFCA All-Region Second Team

Patterson led the team in batting average, hits, and runs scored this season.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released their all-region teams, with Mikenzey Patterson of ENMU Softball being named to the All-South Central Region Second Team, the organization announced this afternoon.

Patterson is just the fourth Greyhound to receive all-region recognition from the NFCA, and the first since 2001 when Jennifer Harrer and Rachel Mohler were both named to the NCFA All-Region First Team. Earlier this month, Patterson was selected to the Lone Star Conference (LSC) All-Conference Second Team.

This season, the Roswell, N.M. native has made an impact as the Greyhounds lead-off hitter, holding a team best .390 batting average and is the fourth best mark in the Lone Star Conference. Along with batting average, Patterson leads the team in hits (60), runs scored (44), triples (5), and stolen bases (20).

"Mikenzey is so deserving of this award," said ENMU Softball Head Coach Amanda Fefel. "She has put endless hours into perfecting her game. I am so proud of the role she played in our line up being a table setter all year," said Fefel. "I am excited to see what next year brings for her,".

Among the rest of the conference, Patterson is currently 8th for runs scored (44), T-7th for total hits (60), tied for the conference lead in triples (5), and T-9th for stolen bases (20).

Currently, Patterson stands in 4th in the ENMU record books for career stolen bases (39) and is tied for third for most triples in program history with eight.

NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated their student-athletes and voted for the teams. All the honorees are now eligible for the 2023 NFCA Division II All-America squads selection.
