Frederick and Williams Compete AT WT Last Chance Meet

Both will hope to qualify for the 2022 NCAA DII Outdoor National Championships later this month

CANYON, Texas – Alex Williams and Timothy Frederick took part in the WT Last Chance Meet on Friday afternoon at the West Texas A&M Track & Field Complex on Friday afternoon. The last chance meet served as the final tune up for Williams and Frederick, as they both hope to qualify for the national championship in two weeks' time.

Frederick showed a solid performance in a pair of events: the 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash. For the 200-meter dash, Frederick turned in a time of 21.14s to take third place in a very competitive event. It is the third fastest time Frederick has run in the event. Meanwhile, Frederick registered a time of 47.15s to take sixth place, in an event that featured six athletes in the top-25 times in the nation (including Frederick).

Williams was the lone competitor in the javelin, with the hope of improving on a personal best mark. The first-year student-athlete finished with a mark of 59.80 meters (196' 2"). The mark didn't break a personal record but is the third time Johnson has taken first place in the event this season.

Williams and Frederick remain in top-20 for qualifying marks in the javelin and 400-meter dash, respectively. Both will wait for the qualifying list to be released for the 2023 NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships, held in Pueblo, Colorado. on May 25-27.
