Kianna Galindo,
Taylor Harrison,
Brook Leger, and
Aylene Lucero have been recognized by College Sports Communicators. All four earned Academic All-District honors for their performance on the field and in the classroom.
"I am so proud of how each of these young ladies managed and prioritized their academics throughout the school year," said head coach
Amanda Fefel when asked about Academic All-District awardees. "It's always great to see them getting recognized off the field for all of their hard work in the classroom."
To be nominated, student-athletes must participate in at least 50 percent of games with a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher and at least a sophomore athletically and academically with one year minimum at the nominating institution.
Galindo is a spring 2023 graduate in criminal justice from Sahuarita, Arizona and a five-time Lone Star Conference Commissioner's honor roll awardee. She finished the season with a .378 on base percentage and six hits, including a base hit in a road win over Midwestern State. Galindo aspires to be a probation and parole officer in Texas
Harrison is a junior from Albuquerque, New Mexico and is pursuing a degree in communicative disorders. She appeared in 13 games in the circle. Through 22.1 innings of work she held a 4.70 ERA and struckout 17 batters. At the plate, she finished the season with two hits in nine at-bats, including a hit and a run in a win over New Mexico Highlands.
Leger is pursuing a master's in sports administration after earning her bachelor's in physical education last fall. The native of Albuquerque, New Mexico has struckout 370 batters in her time with ENMU. In 2023, she went 14-7 with a 2.75 ERA over 34 appearances and 24 starts. She pitched a shutout win against St. Mary's in the 2023 Lone Star Conference tournament.
Lucero is a junior from Albuquerque, New Mexico majoring in physical education with a minor in athletic training. In the offseason, she helps as an athletic training student. She proved to be a clutch asset to the team hitting .328 over 36 appearances and 17 starts. She totaled 22 hits, including a game-tying two-RBI double against Texas A&M-Kingsville. Lucero also had five stolen bases during the 2023 campaign.
The four honorees are now eligible for consideration on the All-America team to be announced June 6.
