PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico track and field is set for an exciting indoor season. The program did well during the 2024 indoor slate with a sixth place finish for the women and eighth place nod for the men at the Lone Star Conference indoor track and field championships.
The men's team finished 22nd out of 68 programs at the NCAA DII indoor meet in Pittsburg, Kan. thanks to a pair of all-american finishes by
Timothy Frederick in the 200m and 400m.
ENMU men's and women's track and field brings back all but one scorer from last year's indoor squad.
Returners who scored points for the men at the LSC meet include Frederick,
Jamoi Jackson,
Tre Buchanan,
Jude Murray,
Luis Holguin, and
Noe Ybaben Burciaga. For the women, they return
Kennedy Ulmer,
Minerva Cerda Hernandez,
Grizell Scarlett,
Helena Carboo-Klutsey,
Aeriana Langley, and
Jodian Stewart from those who scored points at last year's conference meet.
ENMU is slated to attend seven meets in preparation for the conference and national meet.
The season begins at Pittsburg State (12/7). Eastern New Mexico will then go back to Northern Arizona (1/10) for a third-straight season.
Next, the Greyhounds will compete at the Corky Classic (1/17-18) hosted by Texas Tech. They will travel to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational (1/24-25) the following week.
The squad will split up the following week. Some Hounds will compete at the Stan Scott Memorial (1/30-2/1) on the campus of Texas Tech and others will be at the JD Martin Invitational (1/31) at the University of Oklahoma.
Eastern's final regular season meet is slated at the University of New Mexico for the Don Kirby Invitational (2/14-15).
This year, the Lone Star Conference indoor track and field championships will be held in Albuquerque at the Albuquerque Convention Center. The competition will take place February 27-28.
The indoor season will conclude at the NCAA DII indoor track and field championships in Indianapolis, Ind., March 14-15.
