INDIANAPOLIS – Two student-athletes from Eastern New Mexico University will represent the Greyhounds at the 2024 DII indoor national track and field championships in Pittsburg, Kansas.

The NCAA announced that senior Timothy Frederick and freshman Grizell Scarlett will compete at the national meet March 8 and 9.

Frederick qualified for the competition for a second-straight season. One year ago, he earned second team all-american honors for earning a top-12 finish in the 200m. This year, the ENMU sprinter will participate in the 200m and 400m races.

"It's a wonderful feeling knowing that I qualified for nationals for ENMU once again," said Frederick when he heard the news. "I am blessed to compete in two events."

He will be joined by Scarlett who enters the national competition for the first time. She is coming off a win in the 60m at the 2024 Lone Star Conference indoor track and field championships. The first-year Hound ran the race in 7.49s.

"I'm just feeling excited and can't wait to go out and give it my best shot," said Scarlett on the opportunity to run at nationals. "I give all my thanks to God and am grateful for this blessing."

Scarlett is one of 20 participants in the 60m race. She will compete at 2:15 p.m. MT Friday, March 8. If she qualifies for the final, it will take place at 4:30 p.m. MT the next day.

Frederick is one of 17 student-athletes in the 400m. His competition is slated for 3 p.m. MT Friday with a final to be run at 5 p.m. MT the following day. He is also one of 17 in the 200m. The senior will also be one of two individuals running in both the 200m and 400m at the championships. The 200m will be run at 4:15 p.m. MT Friday and a final will take place at 5:45 p.m. Saturday evening.
