Box Score PORTALES, N.M. – Playing on the road in the Lone Star Conference is no easy task, especially when the home side shoots 46.6% from the floor. That's exactly what Midwestern State did Thursday night as they earned a 93-54 win over Eastern New Mexico.
"Tonight was just one of those nights. Credit to Midwestern State, I thought they played incredible on both ends of the floor," remarked head coach
Brent Owen after the game. "We couldn't find the basket and didn't do our job on the other end. We will flush this one and focus on beating Cameron."
MSU's three-point shooting proved to be a major difference as they got off to a quick lead and never gave it up. In total, the Mustangs sunk 14 shots from behind the arc.
Three ENMU student-athletes (
Tre'Von Love,
Junior Hodnett, and
Conrad Luczynski) combined for 68.5% of the Greyhounds scoring on the night. Love's 17 points came on 7-of-16 from the floor.
The rebound battle went to the home side winning that competition, 51-43. Eastern did grab 23 offensive rebounds compared to just 18 for Midwestern State.
MSU's point guard Pierre Sanders led them with 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting.
Eastern now looks forward to a Saturday afternoon bout with Cameron. The game will be streamed on the LSC Digital Network and available via radio through KSEL Country 105.9 FM.
