PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Softball embarks on a road trip Oklahoma for its next Lone Conference weekend series. The Greyhounds will play Cameron University in a three-game set, starting on Saturday, Mar. 2, with a doubleheader scheduled for 12 p.m. (MST) and 2 p.m. (MST). The final game of the series is Sunday, Mar. 3, beginning at 11 a.m. (MST).

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDSÂ
Eastern New Mexico (14-6, 7-5) dropped a home series to Lubbock Christian their last time out. The Greyhounds beat LCU in game one on a
Taighen Whitzel walk-off home run, securing Eastern's first victory over the Chaps in program history (4-3, 8 Inn.).
Emma Southerland tossed a complete game in the win for ENMU, striking out six hitters. During the doubleheader, the Chaps came back to win game two of the series, 10-7, then secured a series victory with a 11-2 (5 Inn.) win. ENMU hit six home runs over the weekend, with
Alondra Vasquez and
Valeria Contreras hitting two each.
ENMU are one of the top hitting teams in the conference and the nation, trailing just WT in the conference for hitting statistics. The Greyhounds batting average (.361) is 12
th in the nation, 193 hits (2
nd in nation), 165 total runs (3
rd in the nation), with 24 home runs (leading LSC and 6
th in nation), while leading the nation with 45 doubles. Additionally, Eastern have a .610 slugging percentage (leads conference), and 149 RBIs (2
nd in LSC). In the circle, the Greyhounds have a 4.12 ERA, allowing 83 runs, with 76 strikeouts, and an opposing batting average of .282.

Vasquez and Whitzel sit atop the hit's leaderboard with 33 hits each, landing in 5
th in the nation. Whitzel is 2
nd in the LSC for batting average (.541), while three Greyhounds are in the top-10 nationally for RBIs: Vasquez (30, 3
rd), Whitzel (28, 4
th), and
Samantha Gutierrez (26, 7
th). Vasquez leads the team with 24 runs scored, while
Mikenzey Patterson (21) and
Aylene Lucero (19) are just behind for runs scored.
Marissa Rodriguez (4-3) has a team best 2.96 ERA, with a team high 45.0 IP. Southerland leads the team in wins (6) and strikeouts (29), while
Jordan Rivera (4-2) completes the Greyhounds rotation.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
Cameron (9-7, 6-6) recently played Oklahoma Christian dropping two of the three game series. The Aggies snagged the middle game of the series, 5-4, while losing the series opener, 4-2, and the finale, 1-0. Before that, Cameron earned a series sweep over Midwestern State. CU has been tested this season play Texas Woman's, UT Tyler, Midwestern State, and Oklahoma Christian in their first four series.
The Cameron offense has struggled so far this season, scoring a conference low 70 runs with a .239 batting average (3
rd worst in LSC). The Aggies have 95 hits after the first month of the season, recording 62 RBIs, and 55 walks. CU is one of the better teams in terms of pitching, holding a 2.91 ERA with 10 complete games this season. The team has gathered 61 strikeouts, holding batters to a .226 batting average.
Taylor Rowley has a team best .367 batting average and 18 hits, scoring 11 runs. Kelsey Creech has 14 RBIs so far this season, while Kaden Boren has 14 hits, 11 runs scored, with eight RBIs. Rylee Ross has 16 hits and nine RBIs. For pitching, Stormee Reed and Jocelyn Bright are the two main pitchers for the Aggies, starting 14 of the 16 games this season. Reed leads the pair with 46.1 IP and a 2.57 ERA, while Bright paces the team with 27 strikeouts and a 4.54 ERA.
