PORTALES, N.M. – For the first time since 2019, Eastern New Mexico University track and field will host a meet at home. Get ready for Saturday's competition by reading the 4x4 Preview:
1x4 – National Standards: Four Greyhounds hit provisional marks during the Willie Williams Classic last week in Tucson, Arizona. Freshman
Grizell Scarlett holds the third fastest 100m sprint among DII competitors after finishing the race in 11.52s. She is a tenth of a second ahead of two runners from West Texas A&M who sit directly behind her in fourth and fifth nationally. Grad student
Tamia Smith has the tenth best throw in the shot put with a 14.13m (46-4.25) mark. The Texas native would sit in fifth with a throw one foot longer. Senior
Timothy Frederick is the fastest 200m runner in NCAA DII with a 20.72s finish. His mark is 0.05s faster than the next closest competitor.
Alex Williams holds the sixth furthest javelin throw at 66.22m (217-3). It is two straight trips to Tucson for Williams where he has achieved a personal best mark and set the school record.
2x4 – Improve Every Day: On top of all of the provisional marks, twelve personal best marks were set among the Hounds last week. ENMU student-athletes who made personal top results include

3x4 – South Central Rankings: Both programs are in the top-ten in the latest south-central regional rankings by the USTFCCCA. For the men, five student-athletes hold a top-ten mark among those in the region.

4x4 – What To Know: Field events begin at 10 a.m. in Portales, N.M starting with javelin and shot put. They will take place at the track near Greyhound Arena and Greyhound Stadium. The first event inside Greyhound Stadium is the long jump set for 10 a.m. The senior student-athletes from Eastern New Mexico University will be honored at 11:50 a.m. directly after the steeplechase. The recognition includes
Tamia Smith,
Ricky Diaz, Alex Johnson, and
Savannah Romero. The final race of the day is the 4x400 starting at 3:20 p.m. The event is free to watch for spectators. ENMU will provide statistical information as it comes available from the timing company and a broadcast camera will be setup to view events inside Greyhound Stadium.
