4x4 Preview: NCAA DII indoor track and field championships

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico track and field will be represented by two Greyhounds at the 2024 NCAA DII indoor track and field championships in Pittsburg, Kansas. Before the events take place Friday afternoon, please take a look at the 4x4 Preview:

1x4: Championship Season – Both runners competing in the championships earned a title at the 2024 Lone Star Conference indoor track and field championships. Freshman Grizell Scarlett took first place in the 60m while Timothy Frederick earned a win in the 200m. Frederick also earned a podium finish (3rd) for his performance at the championships in the 400m. Scarlett's best 60m time is 7.45s. She posted that time at the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque this season. Fredericks top results in the 200m and 400m both were achieved while racing in the Don Kirby Invitational. His 200m time is 21.21s and his best 400m is 47.56s.

2x4: Schedule Done – The 60m race set for Friday will begin at 2:15 p.m. MT. The 400m men's competition will take place at 3 p.m. MT and Frederick will complete his day with a 4:15 p.m. MT start time in the 200m. This will be Frederick's second time competing at the indoor national meet. The final for the women's 60m is slated for 2:15 p.m. MT Saturday. The 400m race for Frederick is slated for 3 p.m. MT and 4:15 p.m. MT for the 200m. All races can be viewed here.

3x4: LSC Finishes – Eastern New Mexico took sixth on the women's side and eighth on the men's side during the 2024 conference championships. Strong finishes from Scarlett and Tamia Smith led to the women earning success at the marquee event. The men saw every person travel to the meet earn points. Those points came in a variety of areas – multis, jumps, sprints, throws, and pole vault.

4x4: Back in Pittsburg – Earlier this season, both Grizell Scarlett and Timothy Frederick competed in a regular season meet in Pittsburg alongside their teammates. At the meet, Frederick ran a 21.55s in the 200m and posted two times in the 60m - 6.89s (F) and 6.92s (P). Scarlett blazed past the competition at the meet in the Sunflower State earlier this year. She went 7.59s in the prelims before going 7.50s in the finals. She also posted a 25.36s in the 200m for a sixth-place finish.
