Timothy Frederick scores points in two events at nationals

Eastern New Mexico was well represented at the 2024 NCAA DII indoor track and field championships

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Timothy Frederick competed in two finals for Eastern New Mexico at the 2024 NCAA DII track and field championships Saturday afternoon.

The senior is now a first team all-american in two events as he scored points in the 200m and 400m.

"When I made it to nationals in 2023, my aim was to at least become a first team all-american. I used my experience last year to fuel me."

The additional fuel helped Frederick to a fourth place finish in the 400m and have enough stamina to race in the 200m 45 minutes later. In his final event of the meet, he took sixth overall.

The second-year Greyhound ran the 400m in 47.66s and the 200m in 21.46s. Frederick's efforts gave Eastern New Mexico University eight points in the championship to take 22nd out of 68 programs.

"By achieving these accomplishments now, it's really a joyous feeling and I'm extremely grateful for becoming a two-time all-american," remarked Frederick when asked about the weekend. "It's an amazing feeling to see that my hard work is paying off and I am achieving my goals. I want to thank God, coach Harden, coach Bell, and everyone that supported me from ENMU."

ENMU will now turn attention to the outdoor season. The first meet of the 2024 slate is scheduled for this upcoming weekend.
