RICHARDSON, Texas — Mikenzey Patterson has been recognized as the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. The senior earns their first career hitter of the week accolade, becoming the second Greyhound to win the honor this season after
Alondra Vasquez (2/26), while
Marissa Rodriguez was named LSC Pitcher of the Week earlier in the season (3/25).
As the lead-off hitter for the Greyhounds, Patterson scattered six hits, scoring five runs over four games. Patterson's efforts helped the Greyhounds win a pair of games against Oklahoma Christian, beating the Eagles for the first time at home and winning a series against the Eagles for the first time. The Roswell, N.M. native scored in every game, finishing 2-4 with a triple and two runs scored in the Greyhounds close 4-3 defeat. In the series finale, Patterson provided a pair of hits including an RBI single as part of the Greyhounds eight run second inning.
ENMU travels to Kingsville plays their next LSC series, facing the Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville. The series opener is scheduled for Friday, Apr. 19, with a doubleheader at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. (MST). Both teams wrap up the series on Saturday, Apr. 20, playing at 11 a.m. (MST).
