PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico University men's track and field is set for the conference meet after a strong weekend in Lubbock for the Corky/Crofoot Shootout.

"I think this was a good meet to compete in to prepare for the LSC championship," said head coach Joshua Harden. "Getting one last tune-up is something we always need in order to find ways to get better."

The meet times were changed because of windy conditions in the Hub City causing the competition to last until midnight Friday evening.

ENMU was represented by Hemon Joseph (11.03s) and Malachi Torres (11.03s) in the 100m. The two finished thousandths of seconds from each other.

Timothy Frederick took sixth out of 60 in the 200m with a time of 20.86s. He followed that with a tenth place finish in the 400m at 47.22s. His teammates Jamoi Jackson (47.55s) and Tre Buchanan (48.81s) also ran the 400m. Jackson's time was a personal best and an NCAA DII provisional mark.

Bryce Owens posted one of the better times for the Greyhounds this weekend. He ran the 800m in 2:01.52. Other long distance runners competing this weekend were Ethan Woodrome (4:54.51) and Ricky Diaz (5:12.03) in the 1500m.

Throws-wise, the program was well represented by Devin Gallegos who tossed the javelin 46.84m (153-8). The hammer saw Kooper Ellis (41.80m (137-2)) and Noe Ybaben-Burciaga (40.59m (133-2)) compete for ENMU.

Ybaben-Burciaga broke through with a personal best in the shot put. He tossed 14.16m (46-5.5) and now ranks seventh among throwers in the conference.

ENMU will take two weeks off before the 2024 Lone Star Conference outdoor track and field championships in San Angelo, Texas.
